Importany of reading food labels

Food labels carry useful information to help you make good choices about food.

The nutrition information panel helps you to compare the nutrient profile of similar products and choose the one that suits your needs.

The food label will tell you if the food contains an additive that you may want to avoid.

FOR example if you a vegan or a vegetarian and want to avoid animal products , it’s important to look for the Codes that are present on the food labels .

For example this product contain Emulsifier 491 named as sorbitan monostearate which might be obtained from an animal origin such as Pork. Unless a source has been mentioned in food label such as soy or plant-based or if the product claims to be vegan or vegetarian friendly, you cannot be sure to have it in meal.

Similarly, reading food label to look for gluten-free and lactose-free products in case of sensitivity is important.
